"Shadowfax" Dead: Horse Used in The Lord of the Rings Passes

ban-773

Blanco, the horse used in the Lord of the Rings as Shadowfax “Lord of all horses” has died.

From the Metro report, Blanco suffered from serious problems with intestinal tract and liver issues;

‘Although my heart was breaking,’ explains Blanco’s owner, ‘as my final gift to him, I stayed strong, balanced and focused, gently repeating “Relax Blanco. Let go. Walk into the light. Relax and let go” as the Blanco I’ve known so well and loved so deeply slipped away.”

According to Wiki;
“Shadwofax is a horse of Rohan, the chief of the Mearas. Like the other mearas, Shadowfax was a grey or silver stallion and could understand the speech of Men. He was seemingly fearless. He could run faster than any other horse in Middle-earth. No one except Gandalf could ride Shadowfax, and he was given to Gandalf by King Théoden. He would not tolerate a bridle or saddle, and carried Gandalf by his own choice. His name means Shadow-mane (Old Norse fax meaning “mane”); the same element appears in the names of the horses Skinfaxi and Hrímfaxi in Norse Mythology.”

  1. Farewell, o magnificent beast. You were a living representation of grace and elegance. Like Cass Ole (aka the Black Stallion), you have left a legacy for future generations of movie-goers, who will marvel at your beauty.
